On Saturday, March 9, 2019, over 1,000 participants will descend upon Santa Teresita in Duarte to take part in the 11th Annual Hayden 5K Run, Family Walk & Roll. This fun-filled day, in support of Santa Teresita’s Hayden Child Care Center, promotes healthy living and family fun, drawing participants not only from the San Gabriel Valley but the greater Los Angeles area, as well.

What started out as a small event for Hayden families has, over the past eight years, grown into a high-caliber race eagerly anticipated by serious runners and walkers alike from throughout the local community. This USA Track & Field-sanctioned race begins at 9:00 a.m. and winds its way along a lovely, scenic route through the Royal Oaks Trail in the city of Duarte and back to the Santa Teresita campus. After crossing the finish line, racers are greeted by the sights, sounds, and tastes of our Family Fun Day, Vendor Fair & Car Show. From delicious food to children’s activities, a Zumba class, lively entertainment, there is something to delight the senses of every member of the family. The Carmelite Sisters, staff, and students of Hayden Child Care Center invite you to come to join us in our 11th Annual Hayden 5K!

Hayden Child Care is a non-profit organization located on the campus of Santa Teresita. Child care services provide affordable and quality education for children aged 2 – 6 during the school year and 2-10 during summer months. Children who attend Hayden Child Care are strengthened in their faith and in their foundational skills of physical development, social and emotional skills, creativity and imagination, academics, and play! Hayden students also support intergenerational activities with the residents at Santa Teresita, which is also a non-profit organization with a mission to be “At the Service of the Family for Life.” Services for seniors include assisted living and skilled nursing care. All netted funds will be used to enhance the programs and environment at Hayden Child Care Center and in general support of Santa Teresita.

With much gratitude we remember the Hayden family of which our school takes its name.
