DISTINCTIVELY UNIQUE CARE…The Intergenerational Program at Santa Teresita!

1967-2017

For 50 years, our Santa Teresita Campus has provided a unique program designed especially for those beginning life and for those who are in the sunset of their lives – children and seniors. Our Children and Residents Enrichment Program, C.A.R.E., is an intergenerational activities program where seniors from Santa Teresita Manor and the Good Shepherd Cottage engage with the students of Hayden Child Care Center.

At the beginning of each school year, children receive an introduction to CARE and teachers assist them in realizing g how important they are in their various interactions with the “Grandmas and Grandpas.”  The children know how much joy they bring to them as they develop a sense of trust and security with older persons as they engage in various activities.

Because both children and residents are located on the Santa Teresita campus, the Hayden’s Child Care, the Good Shepherd Cottage and The Manor are all within walking distance; therefore the children are able to visit the “Grandmas and Grandpas” regularly. As they enjoy each other’s company, they also share in the following experiences as well:

      • Spiritual
      • Creative
      • Music and Movement
      • Social/Emotional Skills
      • Language development
      • Large & fine motor skills

This program promotes greater kindness and compassion between generations and enriches the ‘Culture of Life’ as they experience joy, fun, and love!

It is a privilege for the staff at our Child Care Center to participate in this delightful and beneficial program.  Let us be thankful to God that we are chosen to be instruments of His PEACE & LOVE for both the young and the young at heart.
